Skytanking Announces Start-Up of Into-Plane Fuelling Operation at Vienna International Airport

Skytanking Holding GmbH today announced that it has secured a 3-year contract with Austrian Airlines ("Austrian") to perform into-plane fuelling operations at Austrian Airline’s home base airport at Vienna. The first official flight to be refuelled by Skytanking will depart in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 1, 2006.

The contract with Austrian Airlines and the official refuelling license, issued by the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Technology and Innovation, have been awarded to the Vienna subsidiary of Skytanking ASIG GmbH & Co. KG, which is a 50/50 joint venture between Skytanking Holding GmbH and ASIG.

Ing. Mag. Thomas Kleibl, Austrian’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), commented the award by pointing out that by increasing the self-supplied amount of jet fuel from 15% to 22%, and the mid-term goal to further increase this level to 50%, the into-plane fuelling operation was getting to a size where Austrian did not have sufficient internal resources to handle the volume without a qualified partner. With Skytanking, Austrian has chosen a partner that has supported Austrian with know-how throughout the duration of the project. Mr. Kleibl is also certain that in Vienna, Skytanking will increase the competition in the refuelling sector, a positive effect that the entire airport will benefit from.

Christoph Lindke, Skytanking’s Managing Director for the Munich and Vienna subsidiaries, is delighted that Skytanking’s expertise, particularly in providing into-plane fuelling services, has been recognised by Austrian. He added that Skytanking is one of the few independent companies in the world that has the technical and operational skills to undertake this kind of project within this short timeframe.
