Skytanking‘s Comeback to USA

Skytanking has started refuelling American Airlines aircraft at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the world. The return to the USA marks another milestone in the company's history.

With the new location in Atlanta, where more than 100 million passengers are handled annually, Skytanking is expanding its presence to 76 airports around the globe. At the same time, the company is entering the strategically important US market.

Skytanking was already active in the USA from 2003 to 2013 with a total of 14 locations, including Atlanta. Due to fierce competition and the lack of prospects for fundamental improvement at the time, the decision was made to withdraw from the market.

„We are happy to be back in the USA! Of course it should not stay with this one airport. We pursue further growth and are in the process of expanding our network with further locations“, says Kevin Plescha, President Skytanking North America.

Skytanking is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls, a Hamburg-based family-owned company that operates in the fields of energy supply, trading and logistics. Skytanking provides a full range of aviation fuelling services including building, owning and operating aviation fuel storage and hydrant facilities, and providing into-plane services to airlines, airports and oil companies. Skytanking handles 23 million cbm of aviation fuel per year, refuelling two million aircraft at 76 airports in 13 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
